Usually after the warranty period of any machinery or gadget is over, the provider company enters into an annual maintenance contract with the user or holder of the product. Similarly, for large machines, installations, buildings, and other structures and public places also such annual maintenance work tenders are floated at regular intervals in both public and private sectors.
Basic features of Annual Maintenance Contracts
Basic features of AMC or annual maintenance contracts are –
- Maintenance period commences from the date the warranty period or the period of previous AMC is over;
- Usually the contracts cover a period of one year and are usually obtained by floating maintenance work tenders;
- Contract holder takes care of all minor and major repair works and maintenance works relating to the object for which AMC is concluded;
- Usually minor parts and replacements are provided by free of cost by the contract holder; and
- Replacement of major parts and accessories are the responsibility of the owner for which usually the contract holder charges the principal owner.
For permanent structures and installations, annual maintenance contract works better while for time based project works, individual tender notice is the ideal option.
