Improvement work is a broad term as it can refer to both abstract and concrete types of works. For instance; personality improvement, health improvement, and aptitude improvement through training and orientation are some of the examples of abstract types of improvement where physical improvement of objects may not be involved as they are mostly in the mental state of affairs. On the other hand concrete improvement works can be like roads and building improvement, park improvement, periphery improvement, and so on. Two Types of Construction Tenders

Construction tenders can be broadly classified into two types. One of them is the improvement work tenders while the other is new construction tenders. • Improvement work tenders are floated in the public sector for improvement of sites, renovation of existing offices, godowns, workshops, structures, parks, roads, embeddings, plantations, fencing, and any such thing.
• Such tenders in the corporate sector includes the tenders for renovation and improvement of existing structures in the factories, colonies, offices, machinery structures and other sectors of the industrial unit or commercial complex.
• In the real estate sector the improvement work tenders relate to improvement of the sites, existing buildings and structures, roads and sanitary connections or any such things.

However these days there is a lot of emphasis of personality development and workplace efficiencies both in the public and private sectors and therefore various improvement work tenders are also floated with the objectives of developing the work culture in either of the sectors. For the purpose the most widely used tools are consultancy, training and coaching. Major types of works relating to which the tenders come up are –

• KaiZen;
• Quality Function Deployment or QFD; and
• Lean Six Sigma or DMAIC.

Hence, bidders should be cautious before bidding for one of these tenders about the capabilities and resources they have so that they are not found wanting while vying for the contract in any aspect by the indenter.
